Ensuring Integrity in Roof Inspections and Protecting Homeowners
At Thoroughbred Roofs, our top priority is to uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism in all our work. Recently, we've become aware of troubling practices by certain insurance adjusters, who have made unfounded claims that our company or inspectors are involved in damaging roofs to create insurance claims.
Shedding Light on Industry Concerns
It is alarming that, at a time when homeowners rely on insurance companies to protect their most valuable assets, some adjusters may be engaging in questionable tactics to minimize payouts. These practices not only undermine trust but also place an unfair burden on homeowners who need genuine assistance.
Recent reports highlight the pressures facing insurance companies, with many experiencing greater losses than ever before. For example, the New York Times has reported on how these financial challenges may lead to cost-cutting measures, which unfortunately can affect claimants. Additionally, Carrier Management has detailed that the U.S. property/casualty insurance industry sustained $21.1 billion in underwriting losses in 2023 alone, further underscoring the difficult environment in which insurers are operating.
Our Commitment to Ethical Practices
We want to assure our clients and the public that Thoroughbred Roofs is dedicated to ethical business practices. In the rare instances where concerns have been raised, we have acted swiftly, including dismissing inspectors when necessary. Our commitment to transparency and excellence is unwavering.
Introducing Our Drone Inspection Program
To further strengthen our commitment to accuracy and transparency, we are introducing a drone inspection program. This initiative will provide comprehensive, unbiased documentation of roof conditions, offering peace of mind to our clients and adding an additional layer of accountability to our work.
Transparency and Homeowner Involvement
At Thoroughbred Roofs, we believe that trust is built on transparency. We don't expect our clients to trust us blindly. In fact, we take hundreds of pictures during most projects and invite homeowners to get involved as much as they'd like. We are more than happy to take the time to explain every step of the process, ensuring that you feel fully informed and confident in the work being done on your home.
Uncovering the Truth
In response to recent claims, we enlisted third-party, unbiased sources to review the allegations made against us. Their findings were clear: numerous claims were objectively false. We believe it is important to bring these practices to light, as they not only harm roofing companies like ours but also jeopardize the protection homeowners expect from their insurance policies.
For more on how insurance companies' practices can affect homeowners, other industry analyses also provide insight into the complexities of the insurance claims process and why it's essential for homeowners to stay informed.
Advocating for Fair Treatment
At Thoroughbred Roofs, we believe in advocating for our clients and ensuring they receive the fair treatment they deserve. While we understand that insurance companies face financial pressures, these should not come at the expense of the insured.
What This Means for You
We encourage all homeowners to be vigilant and informed. If you have concerns about your roof or the claims process, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to help you navigate these challenges with integrity and professionalism.

Throwback Thursday – The First Storm Date of 2024!
For this week’s Throwback Thursday, on a scorching hot day, we’re taking a trip down memory lane to a very chilly day— the first storm of the year, on January 12, 2024. Our first projects of 2024 were unusually early, on the leap year, February 29, because of some unseasonably warm weather, which allowed us to roof with appropriate conditions (temp.s have to go above 50s for the laminate seals to form properly).
